Pinnacle College - Video Game Sound Design Program

The Video Games Sound Design program sports cutting-edge software and hardware that you would find in hi-end game studios. Our facilities include lab/lecture rooms and hi-end production studios. In our Game Audio labs, each student has their own individual station with an iMac computer loaded with all software and tools used in the program, a MIDI keyboard, Mbox audio interface, headphones, and external hard disk for projects data.

Our production studios feature state-of-the-art software and hardware configurations with 5.1 surround sound.

Studio A is Pinnacle College's main studio, containing state-of-the art equipment recording equipment. The studio was specifically built by Pinnacle College to meet the demanding requirements of a professional recording environment. Students receive hands-on instruction in this studio - either practicing with recorded content or actually working with live bands.

Studio A is equiped with a complete ProTools HD 7.0 system running on a new Power Mac G5, which includes a DigiDesign Synch I/O unit and three DigiDesign 96 I/O units.

The main console is a 96 channel Otari Concept Elitel with digitally controlled moving analog faders.

MCI 1/2" transport
Genelec 8040A monitors
Two lynx units
DBX 165 and 160 compressors
Lexicon 300L reverb unit
Space station
Mixer delay and doubler
Rolad SE-50

Students have the opportunity to record and mix in isolation on a multi-track system in Studio B. This studio has the cutting edge equipment that provides our students the opportunity to master the skills learned in classroom instructions. Students have the opportunity to perform all the duties of a professional recording engineer and technical support engineer.

The main console in Studio B is a Tascam M-600 36 channel analog mixer.

The studio also has the ProTools Mix Plus system with a Control 24. The studio is also equipped with a Roland Sound Canvas, two Tascam HD 24 disk recorders with the DigiDesign ADAT bridge for making optical transfers, and Genelec 8040A monitors.

Directly across from Studio A and Studio B is the Pinnacle College live room - an acoustically engineered room designed specifically for recording live performances. Here students learn the all important skills of microphone placement and how to configure a venue for a live session.

Students are taught theory and practical skills in the Pinnacle College recording engineer school's classrooms. Such topics as the historical background of recording and the fundamentals of audio techniques are taught in a lecture format, while in other classes such as Studio Maintenance may find student's working "hand's on" with soldering sets or disassembling/assembling studio equipment.
